The BB H Academic Advisor
The BB H faculty have long recognized that the advising process is complicated and time consuming. Much of the advising activities that students need involves dealing with procedures for which the University’s regulations are very specific and which require a great deal of training and experience. The faculty have agreed that a full-time person–an Academic Advisor-- is needed in BB H to assist in the various aspects of undergraduate advising that require this specialized knowledge and experience.
Dr. Daniel Treviño, Senior Lecturer in Biobehavioral Health, is serving in the role of the BB H Academic Advisor for all undergraduate students in the BB H major. His office is room 302 East Health & Human Development Building. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Treviño call the BB H dept. office, 814-863-7256, and ask whomever answers to make an appointment for you with him.
What does this mean for you as a BB H major? It means that advising in BB H will be provided by three persons: (1) Dr. Daniel Treviño, the BB H Academic Advisor, (2) your permanently assigned BB H faculty advisor (see your AUDIT) and (3) by Dr. Frank Ahern, the Undergraduate Professor-in-Charge. Each of these persons has a different set of advising duties and responsibilities. Dr. Treviño will handle most of the routine advising questions related to academic issues. Your permanent faculty advisor will handle advising related to research opportunities and career choices. Dr. Ahern will be available to handle special problems and to assist your other advisors when needed. The following are examples of advising tasks and the appropriate sequence for contacting the BB H advisors. If you are unsure as to who should provide help, please start with Dr. Treviño, your Academic Advisor.
PLEASE NOTE: THE AVAILABILITY OF MULTIPLE ADVISORS IS TO HELP STUDENTS TO OBTAIN ADVISING HELP QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. HOWEVER, IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO COORDINATE ADVISING DECISIONS AND COMMUNICATION AMONG ALL ADVISORS.
