HealthWorks
HealthWorks is the peer health education program of the Office of Health Promotion and Education, providing services to Penn State students in the areas of nutrition, wellness, sexual health, and alcohol and other drugs. Students who volunteer with HealthWorks specialize in one of four special interest areas: Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs; Nutrition Education; Sexual Health Education; and Wellness Education.
To become a peer health educator, students undergo prescribed training that includes certain University credit courses. After the training, educators are asked to commit to two semesters of active involvement with the program, presenting workshops and other activities promoting health education. For more information on volunteer opportunities, contact the Office of Health Promotion and Education, Room 19 Ritenour Health Center, 863-2500.
